1 Chronicles 4:10 NIV
10 Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.
The beginning of 1 Chronicles is like diving into an old family album, filled with lists of who’s who throughout history. But then, we meet Jabez, and suddenly, there's this beautiful, heartfelt prayer that just jumps out. Jabez’s name might mean "pain," but he was special, more honored than his brothers. When he prayed, he poured out his heart to God, asking for blessings and protection. It's a powerful reminder that we aren’t defined by what the world thinks of us or even what we are called, but by who God knows we are. Jabez's sincere prayer touched God’s heart, and God granted his request. So, what are you ready to ask God for, with all your heart, knowing that He’s the one who can make anything possible?
1 Chronicles 15:11-14, 25-26 NIV
11 Then David summoned Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel and Amminadab the Levites. 12 He said to them, “You are the heads of the Levitical families; you and your fellow Levites are to consecrate yourselves and bring up the ark of the Lord, the God of Israel, to the place I have prepared for it. 13 It was because you, the Levites, did not bring it up the first time that the Lord our God broke out in anger against us. We did not inquire of him about how to do it in the prescribed way.” 14 So the priests and Levites consecrated themselves in order to bring up the ark of the Lord, the God of Israel. 25 So David and the elders of Israel and the commanders of units of a thousand went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord from the house of Obed-Edom, with rejoicing. 26 Because God had helped the Levites who were carrying the ark of the covenant of the Lord, seven bulls and seven rams were sacrificed.
One thing’s for certain and for sure: David was totally chasing after God’s heart. He adored the Lord with every part of him, and even when he messed up, he tried his absolute best to learn and do better next time. God is the ultimate giver of second chances, and it’s no wonder David got the chance to bring the Ark of the Lord to Jerusalem a second time. This time, though, he knew he needed God’s permission and guidance. It’s so important for us to pray about everything! I’ve failed so many times by making decisions based on my feelings instead of asking Jesus to guide me.
The story goes on to say that after David sought God, God helped them move the Ark. Now, I don’t know about you, but I need God’s help! Just imagine how amazing things could be if Jesus sprinkled His supernatural power over everything ahead of us!
