Reflections

  • Knowing that we play a part in our answered prayers, what part do you find most difficult?

  • We’re told to pray, humble ourselves, and turn from our wicked ways. Is there any one of these that you have knowingly failed to do?

  • Going forward, which area within these mandates will you intentionally make the effort to grow in?

GraceNotes - My Reflections

(2 Chronicles 1:7-10 NIV)

7 That night God appeared to Solomon and said to him, “Ask for whatever you want me to give you.” 8 Solomon answered God, “You have shown great kindness to David my father and have made me king in his place. 9 Now, Lord God, let your promise to my father David be confirmed, for you have made me king over a people who are as numerous as the dust of the earth. 10 Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours?”

Alright, let's talk about getting bold, shall we? I'm talking David-level boldness, like standing up to your own personal Goliath because you *know* God's got your back. Or Jabez-style boldness, where you confidently call out to God for exactly what you want, like it's your personal Amazon wish list, trusting He's going to deliver. And then there's Solomon, who could've had all the bling and glory but chose wisdom and discernment instead. Now *that's* a boss move!

I want to be that kind of bold, where my heart's desires align with God’s will and He’s all like, “Yup, that’s my girl!” Bold enough to chase after Him with everything I've got, knowing He's smiling down, well pleased.

So, spill the tea: what do you want to be bold about this season? Whether it’s stepping into a new adventure, asking for what you need, or just being unapologetically yourself, let’s go all in! 💪💖

(2 Chronicles 7:13-16 NIV)

13 “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, 14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. 16 I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.

Let’s talk about IF. You know what I’m talking about—the, "If you do this, then you'll get that." In the above text, verses 14 and 15 give us a major cause-and-effect moment: for the Lord to turn His eyes toward us, we need to humble ourselves. But how often do we miss that "if" part? 🙋‍♀️

It's easy to get tangled up in our own pride, whether we're aware of it or not. We struggle to let go and be vulnerable enough to come to God in praise, prayer, and expectation. The funny thing is, God wants to give us everything, but we're too busy hustling to notice. It's like trying to climb Stone Mountain while dragging 76lb weights, insisting we don't need any help. (Gym goals, anyone? 🏋️‍♀️) But here's the reality check: we don't have to do it all alone.

As a wife, mom, or colleague, we sometimes refuse to ask for help. We wear our independence like a badge of honor, even when it feels like we're moving mountains solo. But it doesn't have to be that way. God is always ready to step in, and sometimes His help looks like our partner holding our hand, our family pitching in with the kids, or our coworkers helping out on a project.

So, let's take a deep breath and humble ourselves a bit. This season, let's remember that it's okay to ask for help and lean on the Almighty. After all, life's too short to struggle uphill with extra weights. Let's open ourselves to the blessings and support that are right in front of us!
