Jeremiah 17:7

But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.

True blessing comes from putting our full, unfiltered confidence in Him—not in people, circumstances, or even our own plans. In a world where we’re encouraged to have a backup plan for our backup plan, this feels radical. It’s like God’s saying, “Forget plan B—I’m your only plan!”

Trusting God this way isn’t about living on blind hope or pretending we have it all together; it’s about finding solid ground in who He is. God’s the kind of steady presence that doesn’t shake when things get uncertain. When our confidence is in Him, we’re tapped into a source that won’t run dry, no matter what storms come our way.

But let’s be real—trusting God fully can be hard! Life throws curveballs, and sometimes it feels like we’re waiting on answers that just won’t come. Still, God promises that this kind of trust isn’t in vain; it’s actually the path to blessing. And not just the “everything’s-great-now” kind of blessing, but the deeper, peace-filled assurance that God’s got us in every season.

So when Jeremiah says we’re blessed when we put our trust in God, he’s talking about a quiet strength that doesn’t waver—a confidence that, no matter what, we’re in good hands.

Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

This verse is one of God’s boldest promises—He’s saying, “I know exactly what I’m doing with your life.” It’s a reminder that we don’t need to see every step of the journey to trust that there’s a destination. God’s got the full map, even if we’re staring at one small, confusing piece. It’s less about us knowing what’s next and more about knowing that we’ll get where we’re meant to be because His plans for us are set.

Here’s what’s really interesting: God spoke these words to people who were struggling, feeling lost, and far from where they wanted to be. They were wondering if God had forgotten them, but He reassured them that this was part of a bigger plan. This wasn’t about just cheering them up—it was about grounding them in the truth that, no matter where they were, God’s purpose was still unfolding. Sometimes, we feel stuck in situations we didn’t ask for or seasons that seem endless, but this verse speaks right into that.

God’s plans don’t shift based on our location or circumstances. Whether we’re in a place we love or a place we’d rather fast-forward through, He promises that the end result is one of hope, prosperity, and a future designed for our good. It’s a call to release our grip on needing to know everything and lean into the trust that God’s got it covered.

So when we’re in a season of not knowing, Jeremiah 29:11 invites us to rest in what we do know: God’s got the final word on our lives. Every detour, every pause—it’s all part of a purpose that He’s carefully planned, one that ultimately brings us where we need to be.
