Nobody wins when the family feuds
Genesis 45:24 : After joseph and his brothers reunite, he sends them back to Canaan to retrieve their father, Jacob, and bring him back to Egypt for them to live and be prosperous as a family. Joseph tells his brothers as they leave, “Don’t quarrel on the way!” I think the basic human instinct is to point the finger, screaming I told you so when the ball drops… but God wants us to stop bringing up old news; stop arguing through life and love on each other. What happened, happened and it’s over.
Genesis 31
Sometimes God will separate us from relationships (to people, places, things) to pull us toward Him. God made Jacob completely uncomfortable in his circumstance through the conflict between himself and Laban. When the situations become uncomfortable, wherever they are… seek God first and He will deliver you.
Watch God work while you wait: Joseph’s Story
God doesn’t call the qualified. He qualifies the called. I’ve been reflecting a lot on the “waiting season,” and am realizing that sometimes the waiting season is the season in which God wants to make and mold us, He wants to refine us and teach us how to use our calling. If you don’t have time to grow in your calling, how are you going to get to the table God has prepared for you? Reading through the story of Joseph has been a huge eye opener for me, because I realized it took over a decade for Joseph to fully operate in his calling. The Lord showed glimpses of Joseph being a dreamer when Joseph was a teenager and what’s even more apparent is that YOUR CALLING WILL SET YOU APART. It will make others uncomfortable when they lack understanding - even your own family. Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery not realizing that it would set off a chain reaction that would push and pull Joseph to become the man that God called him to be. Joseph faced a slew of adversities before getting to the table; but even through the adversities, he praised God and he found favor in the eyes of the Lord. Praise while you prepare. The table is being set for you even now.
