Reflections

  • Has there ever been a time in your life when you couldn’t see your own value? What were the circumstances surrounding that season of your life?

  • How did you get released from that kind of thinking? Do you struggle with it still?

  • How would you encourage someone else who may find it hard to realize their value?

2 Samuel 12

This story of David truly gives, “I’m just a man.” And I think that there is so much to gather from that — we see God’s favor over David’s life time and time again but we are also seeing that David, like us all, falls short. So, David got caught up with Bathsheba, and it caused quite a stir. Sadly, their actions led to heartbreaking consequences—the loss of their child and turmoil in David's kingdom. Yet, through it all, David learned profound lessons about repentance and the importance of staying grounded in integrity. It’s a reminder that even in our mistakes, there’s a path to redemption and growth. David’s journey shows us that no matter how glamorous or powerful we may seem, we’re all human and need to face the consequences of our actions with humility and a commitment to do better.

2 Samuel 13-18

Okay, so imagine David and his son Absalom—total father-son drama! Absalom’s got this amazing hair and charm, but underneath, there’s serious family tension brewing. He plots against David, even stages a rebellion to steal the throne! It’s like a royal soap opera, right?

But here’s the heart of it: despite their conflict, David’s love for Absalom never wavers. He wrestles with grief and forgiveness, showing us that even in the messiest family dynamics, love and compassion can heal. David’s story with Absalom reminds us that relationships take work, forgiveness is key, and sometimes even the closest bonds face the toughest tests.
