  • What is at the top of your stress list? Why is it such a stressor?

  • How do you normally handle those things that you have no control over? Be honest.

  • After reading Hannah’s story, what have you learned about yourself? Going forward, how will you handle your stress?

GraceNotes - My Reflections

Ruth 1:16 NIV

“But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.”

Ruth was so immersed in her relationship with Naomi that she said the above — but deeper than that, Naomi’s witness of our great God was so profound that Ruth didn’t want to return to her past. Reading this speaks to me in the highest volumes because this is the type of woman I yearn to be — like Naomi. A woman who truly loves Jesus with all her heart, mind, soul, and strength so that any person who comes around me wants to know Him and abide in Him.

1 Samuel 1:15 NIV

““Not so, my Lord,” Hannah replied, “I am a woman who is deeply troubled. I have not been drinking wine or beer; I was pouring out my soul to the Lord.”

To be very truthful, honest, candid, all of the above — I have, at times, struggled with the spirit of “complaint.” I’m calling my husband, mom, friends, whoever, and complaining about the rain, my job, the impossible schedule, instead of just asking Jesus to lead the way and make it straight. In the very recent past, I’ve been praying that God release me from that. It’s so important that we just go to God, because He has the answers; nothing is impossible for Him.
