GraceNotes - My Reflections
Ezekiel 36:26-27
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.
This is God making a promise to do what only He can: take a heart that’s cold, indifferent, and unresponsive and make it alive again. Sometimes we’re so weighed down by life—or maybe just stuck in the “going through the motions” phase—that it feels impossible to turn things around. But God doesn’t ask us to fix ourselves; He steps in to do the transforming. A “heart of flesh” isn’t just about feelings; it’s about being alive to His leading, open to His voice, and ready to walk in obedience because His Spirit is empowering us to do so.
God is in the business of renewal, and He’s not just giving us tools to figure it out on our own—He’s putting His Spirit in us to move us forward. If you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed, this is your reminder: God isn’t finished with you. The heavy lifting? That’s His work. You just have to let Him in.
Ezekiel 37:3-5
He asked me, ‘Son of man, can these bones live?’ I said, ‘Sovereign Lord, you alone know.’ Then He said to me, ‘Prophesy to these bones and say to them, “Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life.”
God steps into Ezekiel’s vision of a valley of dry bones—lifeless, hopeless, and way beyond repair. But instead of declaring it over, God asks Ezekiel to speak life into the bones. Sometimes, we’re staring at situations that feel just as dead: relationships, dreams, or even our faith. But here’s the truth: God specializes in bringing life where it looks impossible. He’s asking us, “Do you believe I can make this live again?”
What’s incredible is that the bones don’t just come alive on their own—God involves Ezekiel in the process. This isn’t about us being powerful; it’s about us being willing to speak God’s truth into the hard places. If you’ve got a “dry bones” situation, don’t just stare at it in despair. Prophesy life over it and trust God to breathe His Spirit into what feels lost.
Ezekiel 43:2
I saw the glory of the God of Israel coming from the east. His voice was like the roar of rushing waters, and the land was radiant with His glory.
Ezekiel describes the overwhelming glory of God—His voice like rushing waters and His presence so powerful that it transforms the land itself. This verse is a reminder that God’s glory isn’t just a “nice idea” or something we vaguely feel in a worship moment. It’s real, tangible, and life-changing. When God shows up, things cannot stay the same.
If you’ve been longing for a deeper connection with Him, let this be your encouragement: God’s glory isn’t distant; it’s moving toward you. His voice may be powerful, but it’s not to scare you—it’s to awaken your spirit. Let Him in, and watch His presence transform every part of your life, making it radiant with His goodness.
