Reflections

  • Would you consider yourself an enabler or one who empowers? Why?

  • As moms, leaders, or sisters, we have a tendency to run to the rescue. Can you think of a time when you intervened when you should have allowed someone to figure something out for themselves? What were the results?

  • Can you see yourself transitioning from one level to the next right now? How has your process been?

GraceNotes - My Reflections

Deuteronomy 1:6

The Lord our God said to us at Horeb, “You have stayed long enough at this mountain.”

This. The wilderness does not last always. The trials, the struggle, the mountain — God is the potter, we are the clay. And there will be seasons that are difficult, that are heart wrenching, that we are asking God why… but the seasons do not last always. God is a God who does not lie and He will bring you out of the suck at the appointed time. There have been so many seasons where I have done nothing but leap for joy when the Lord told me “You’ve been here long enough.” — and though I’m glad for the molding, I’m even more happy for the season to wrap.

Deuteronomy 6:5

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

I grew up reciting this with my family every day — I’m pretty sure this is my dad’s favorite verse. With four kids running around the house, he always hit us with this verse followed by the second greatest commandment of loving your neighbor as yourself. The more seasoned I become, I am realizing that when you love God with all of you, you are so much freer. I wake up ready to honor God, to give Him my days, to meditate on His words, pray without ceasing, commune with Him and just spend time loving Him. Doing this easily makes me love me and others all the more.

Psalms 13:6

I will sing the Lord’s praise, for He has been good to me.

This is one of those scriptures that we should hide in our hearts. As Christians, we’re not promised a life with no suffering, but we are promised that the Lord is always victorious — he is always good. When we keep that in mind, we can remember that sooner or later, it will turn in our favor no matter what our present circumstance.
